Senior Software Engineer

Role Overview

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our Linkapps team, the squad responsible for creating the integrations that enable creators to connect their digital content to their Linktree profiles. These integrations include music players, stores, mailing list signups, ticket links, and more—all powered by the systems this team develops.

This position involves working across the full technology stack, building and refining services, APIs, and product interfaces behind these integrations. The work requires significant interaction with external APIs and SDKs: carefully reviewing partner contracts, making integrations resilient against external service issues, and balancing whether to generalize solutions or deliver practical, timely implementations. This role is a hands-on individual contributor role within a small, distributed team, closely collaborating with partners and focusing on the end-user experience for creators.

With a user base exceeding 70 million and 48,000 new accounts daily, the features you develop touch a broad and diverse audience. Your integrations often determine why a user’s Linktree is the definitive link that encompasses their entire digital universe. Ultimately, you will contribute to Linktree's mission of enabling everyone to curate and grow their digital presence.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deliver full-stack features within the Linkapps platform, covering everything from partner-facing services to creator-visible interfaces.
• Take full ownership of third-party integrations, evaluating APIs or SDKs, architecting solutions, shipping, and maintaining their stability in production.
• Develop and enhance our composable Link Apps system, driving improvements to reduce integration costs without turning every integration into a large platform effort.
• Architect and sustain services, APIs, and cloud infrastructure focusing on authentication, rate limiting, version control, and graceful degradation.
• Collaborate effectively with product managers, designers, and partnership teams to assess technical feasibility and maximize value for creators.
• Instrument shipped features and analyze usage data to guide priorities for fixes, removals, or feature enhancements.
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools in your workflow and identify how AI can be embedded into integrations meaningfully.
• Cultivate a strong engineering culture within a small, globally distributed team, emphasizing clear communication, thorough code reviews, and maintaining high code quality.

Candidate Profile

• At least 5 years of professional experience delivering production-quality full-stack software features.
• Proficient in our primary technologies including TypeScript, Node.js, React, PostgreSQL or MySQL, GraphQL, and AWS, with the capability to independently handle full feature development.
• Demonstrated experience owning third-party API and SDK integrations in live environments, adept at managing authentication, rate limiting, version management, and handling outages.
• Comfortable working within large, mature codebases prepared by others, with sound judgment about safe modifications.
• Experienced in designing services and APIs within cloud-native, microservice architectures.
• Fluent with AI-powered development tools such as Claude, Cursor, and Codex, skilled in prompting, iteration, validation, and refinement of outputs.
• Capable of working amid ambiguity, able to transform loosely defined partnership opportunities into deployed, measured functionalities.
• Committed to craftsmanship, attentive to details including empty states, error handling, and UI feedback without prompt.
• Strong asynchronous communicator who collaborates well with cross-functional teams in different time zones.
• Preference for candidates based in Australia (Melbourne, Sydney, or remote).
