Key Responsibilities

• Tackle some of the most demanding engineering problems within the bank.
• Perform a hybrid role encompassing principal engineering, technical architecture, and people management.
• Oversee design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance of the products and platforms under your team's ownership.
• Lead recruiting activities and nurture the technical growth of engineering teams.
• Actively engage in hands-on coding, solving technical challenges, and mentoring junior engineers.
• Provide leadership on complex technological issues across the organisation.
• Combine direct coding efforts with offering close technical guidance and management to your teams.

Desired Qualifications and Experience

• Strong technical foundation, preferably in Java, supported by a computer science education or equivalent experience.
• Proven track record leading complex engineering projects and collaborating effectively within teams.
• Experience in building scalable, maintainable, and high-performance web applications within an Agile product environment.
• Excellent communication skills at all organisational levels.
• Hands-on expertise in coding, system design, and code review across diverse platforms and services.
• Ability to analyze, simplify, and optimize complex processes while researching and adopting emerging technologies.
• Demonstrated leadership and mentorship skills to cultivate high-performing and psychologically safe engineering teams.
• Strong commitment to maintaining code quality, rigorous testing procedures, and secure coding standards.
• Experience working collaboratively with product managers to align engineering efforts with strategic business goals.
• Expertise in application reliability, uptime management, continuous improvement practices including incident response and post-mortem analysis.
