Role Overview

We are seeking a Staff Data Scientist to leverage extensive applied data science and optimization expertise to steer our company's machine learning and optimization strategies. You will spearhead impactful projects, develop sophisticated machine learning models, and collaborate cross-functionally to align solutions with business objectives. As a senior technical leader, you will mentor peers, enhance data science capabilities, and shape the organization's data-driven approach.

Key Responsibilities

  • Grasp the company’s business vision and market opportunities thoroughly.
  • Develop scientific hypotheses from business challenges to direct focus and practical execution.
  • Analyze complex datasets using statistical, analytical, and database methods to improve programmatic efficiency.
  • Design and implement complex data-centric solutions including segmentation, transformation, and feature engineering.
  • Communicate research questions, development choices, and outcomes clearly to various stakeholders.
  • Participate actively in the design and refinement of algorithms for automated decision-making in programmatic exchange optimization.
  • Contribute to the creation and maintenance of production performance monitoring frameworks and KPIs.
  • Collaborate with machine learning engineers and architects to deploy production-grade data solutions.
  • Foster innovation by bringing entrepreneurial ideas to address relevant challenges.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Minimum 7 years in data science or machine learning roles combining statistical and technical expertise.
  • Practical experience with data science applications in operational and Internet-scale environments.
  • Proficient in a variety of statistical techniques, especially classification, prediction, and time series modeling.
  • Proven capability to clearly present complex results to a broad, technical audience.
  • Track record of informing technology development through advanced data modeling.
  • Experience driving practical technological solutions in cross-functional teams.
  • Expertise in applying data science and optimization best practices at large scale, preferably in industry-scale platforms.
  • Strong programming skills in Python (notably pandas, numpy, SciKit-learn); familiarity with Scala is advantageous.
  • Background or familiarity with digital marketing, advertising, or analytics is a bonus.
  • Experience in complex systems engineering environments adds value.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent field.
