Role Overview

As a Senior Forward Deployed AI Scientist focused on Operations and Optimization, your role involves applying advanced analytics, machine learning, optimization algorithms, and simulation methods to solve intricate operational challenges spanning sectors such as supply chain, manufacturing, logistics, inventory, and workforce planning.

You'll collaborate within multidisciplinary teams encompassing BCG consultants, operations professionals, AI engineers, and client personnel to conceptualize, develop, and implement impactful AI-driven solutions. Your work will improve organizational performance, enhance resilience, reduce costs, and drive transformative change by integrating both technical expertise and operational insights.

Core Responsibilities and Expectations

• Engage in the end-to-end analytics lifecycle: identify business problems, engineer novel algorithms, implement scalable solutions, and enable adoption of AI across organizations.
• Work closely with stakeholders from multiple departments to ensure solutions align with business goals and operational realities.
• Effectively communicate complex technical findings and insights to both technical experts and non-technical audiences.
• Contribute actively in client-facing settings and collaborate within diverse teams, managing multiple stakeholder relationships.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Proven experience applying data science, machine learning, optimization, or simulation approaches to address complex operational problems.
• Robust understanding of modern analytics and machine learning frameworks with a track record of generating actionable business results.
• Expertise in operations research and optimization methodologies related to supply chain, manufacturing, logistics, inventory management, or workforce planning.
• Advanced programming skills in Python; familiarity with optimization tools such as Gurobi, OR-Tools, or Pyomo is advantageous.
• Master’s or PhD in relevant quantitative disciplines including Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science, Engineering, Economics, or related fields.
• Excellent command of both German and English languages at C1/C2 proficiency levels in speaking and writing.
• Applicants must provide all relevant academic certificates (A-level, Bachelor, Master, PhD).
