Job description
Role Overview
The Business Solution Specialist acts as an expert in defense industry technology procurement, possessing deep knowledge of defense market offerings. This individual identifies and partners with compliant and competitive suppliers specializing in weaponry, ammunition, missile technology, unmanned systems, and related subsystems. The key focus is orchestrating optimal technology solutions at competitive prices and successfully delivering them to key stakeholders.
Primary Responsibilities
- Analyze client Request for Proposal (RFP) technical requirements to pinpoint appropriate products and solutions.
- Identify and qualify vendors that comply with strict quality and technical standards relevant to defense projects.
- Perform comprehensive supplier technical assessments, including evaluations and bid analyses.
- Coordinate with the procurement team to devise and implement sourcing strategies suitable for securing technical parts, materials, and services within defense programs.
- Work closely with internal departments such as business development, bid management, proposal leadership, and contracts to fully understand technical specifications and requirements.
- Maintain frequent communication with suppliers, stay informed about emerging technologies and market trends, and represent the company at industry exhibitions.
- Track and monitor market developments, benchmarking for defense-related technologies including missile systems, weapons, radar, UAVs, ammunition, and electro-optical equipment.
- Regularly update and report progress through various tracking documents on a bi-weekly, quarterly, and annual basis.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical disciplines is essential.
- A minimum of five years’ professional experience in the defense sector, specifically in technical sourcing or solution management roles.
- Comprehensive understanding of defense-related products, such as weapons, missiles, UAVs, ammunition, radars, and electro-optical systems.
- Expertise in evaluating suppliers, conducting technical bid analyses, and strategic sourcing.
- Strong aptitude for managing supplier relationships, analytics, communication, and collaborating with internal stakeholders effectively.
- Readiness to undertake travel for supplier engagements and participate in industry-related events.
