Crystalbrook Sam is launching soon in Adelaide, and we seek a Sous Chef passionate about culinary arts and eager to contribute creatively to our brand-new kitchen team. Role Overview and Responsibilities
- Lead by example to energize and inspire a high-achieving culinary team through passion and strong leadership presence.
- Support the preparation and delivery of outstanding dishes emphasizing quality ingredients, creativity, and consistency.
- Contribute actively to defining kitchen standards, systems, and operations during our pre-opening stage.
- Coach and develop chefs across all levels, fostering an environment conducive to learning, contribution, and growth.
- Ensure exemplary standards in food quality, plate presentation, hygiene, safety, and kitchen organization.
- Collaborate with culinary and operational management to provide guests with memorable dining moments.
- Lead the kitchen smoothly during service periods, maintaining focus and composure under pressure.
- Assist in operational tasks such as menu execution, inventory ordering, managing stock, monitoring food costs, and minimizing waste.
- Advocate for our Responsible Luxury principles by making sustainable and thoughtful choices regarding sourcing, waste, and kitchen operations.
- Encourage innovation by proposing new ideas, challenging norms, and improving culinary experiences.
Candidate Profile
We seek a chef deeply committed to the hospitality industry who understands that exceptional kitchens are built on trust, communication, discipline, curiosity, and genuine care towards every dish served.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Substantial experience as a Sous Chef or senior culinary roles prepared to transition upward.
- Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or an equivalent accredited qualification.
- Strong enthusiasm and knowledge of quality produce, flavor profiles, and contemporary cuisine.
- Effective leadership abilities to motivate and unite the kitchen team.
- Experience maintaining high performance in fast-paced, quality-centric kitchens.
- Excellent organizational, communicative skills and a keen eye for detail.
- Commercial insight relating to food cost management, labor, inventory, and waste reduction.
- A cooperative mindset ready to engage hands-on when necessary.
- Courage to share ideas, innovate, and uphold elevated culinary standards.
