Position Overview

Located in Auckland, New Zealand, as part of the Product Development and Engineering team, the Software Quality Tester II plays a key role in ensuring the robustness and dependability of embedded software and hardware through diligent testing, validation, and the creation of automated solutions. This role collaborates closely with software developers, hardware engineers, and project teams supporting embedded Linux and Android-based products. The responsibilities include identifying software defects, verifying overall system functionality, and assisting in delivering dependable high-quality products.

Key Responsibilities

• Examine requirements and specifications to establish comprehensive test coverage.
• Create, execute, and maintain test cases.
• Perform validation of software releases on embedded Linux and Android platforms.
• Test hardware components, peripherals, and system functions during initial bring-up and development phases.
• Develop and sustain test automation frameworks and tools.
• Identify, log, and analyze defects while working collaboratively with engineering teams to facilitate timely resolution.

Required Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or a related discipline.
• Between 2 to 4 years of experience in software testing, quality assurance, or validation.
• Proficient in both software and hardware validation techniques.
• Comfortable operating within Linux command-line environments.
• Experience using electronic test instruments such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and power supplies.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
• Self-driven with a motivation to continuously learn and develop professionally.

Preferred Qualifications

• Programming skills in C, C++, Java, or Python.
• Experience or interest in developing test automation.
• Knowledge of embedded systems and integration between hardware and software.
• Familiarity with the Android Open Source Project (AOSP).
• Understanding of Android CTS and VTS testing frameworks.
• ISTQB certification or experience working within Agile development methodologies.

• Ability to sit, stand, or walk for prolonged periods.
• Standard working hours with occasional flexibility depending on project demands.
• Capability to lift weight consistently up to 35 lbs.
• Must be able to safely operate various watercraft or willing to acquire this skill.
• Work may require operating in confined spaces or at heights.
