Role Overview - The Spend Squad

Join the Spend team to develop products that enable customers to conveniently spend their money worldwide. Processing approximately £34 billion annually and issuing cards in over 40 countries, the team is expanding features that personalise the spending experience globally.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and launch user-facing components on one of Wise's fastest-growing and impactful product lines.
• Focus on enhancing the core card user journey from onboarding to first use, while creating efficient tooling to support operations amid global growth.
• Design maintainable, performant, and consistent interfaces and documentation with an emphasis on anticipating customer challenges.
• Proactively identify critical customer issues and collaborate with cross-functional teams to address technical challenges.
• Drive improvements enhancing Wise's customer experience and equip internal teams like Operations and Customer Support to operate effectively.
• Manage technical debt by planning and coordinating team efforts to ensure sustainable development practices.

Candidate Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years in backend application development.
• Strong product-oriented mindset with passion for exceptional user experience and data-informed decision making.
• Excellent communication skills capable of conveying complex technical ideas to diverse audiences.
• Advocate for writing testable code following Test Driven Development principles.
• Commitment to best coding standards, code reviews, and open feedback culture.
• Experience mentoring junior and mid-level engineers.
• Proficiency in Java 17+ and Spring Framework.
• Experience with frontend development using JavaScript frameworks such as React.
• Knowledge of relational database management, query optimization, and schema design.
• Familiarity with Continuous Delivery development methodologies.

Additional Desired Skills

• Experience working with financial technology systems.
• Advanced knowledge of PostgreSQL, including advanced data types and query capabilities.
• Understanding of event-driven architectures.
• Some experience with Groovy programming language.

Compensation

Salary range: SGD 9,350 to 12,400 monthly base pay plus Restricted Stock Units (RSUs).
