Job description
About Tapi
Tapi addresses the complex coordination challenges in property maintenance involving tenants, tradies, property managers, and landlords who have differing information and incentives. Operating across Australia, New Zealand, and the UK, Tapi supports maintenance management for over 550,000 properties underpinned by eight years of maintenance data and 28 million decisions. The company is evolving from software that assists coordination to one that actively drives and automates the maintenance process—pricing, scheduling, tracking, and settling real jobs with real tradies and real money.
Role Overview
The Software Engineer will be part of a flat, agile engineering team focused on delivering impactful, customer-centric software. The team organizes in small pods with genuine ownership of work processes and product integrity. There is strong emphasis on leveraging AI for software development to produce ambitious and high-quality solutions rather than prototype AI demos. This remote-first position is open to candidates residing anywhere in Australia or New Zealand.
Responsibilities
- Develop foundational products and manage features end-to-end, handling complex job workflows, multiple states, and diverse edge cases.
- Deploy updates daily, monitor actual job outcomes, then quickly identify and correct assumptions.
- Establish scalable patterns for tooling, system architecture, and operational workflows for future team expansion.
Candidate Profile
- Experience shipping real-world products with a user-focused mindset without relying on detailed specifications for every task.
- Capability to work collaboratively in a small, high-performance team wearing multiple hats including coding, coaching peers, understanding customer needs, and delivering on deadlines.
- Familiarity and active practice engaging AI agents in the development process, utilizing these tools for enhanced productivity and continual experimentation at advanced levels.
What Tapi Offers
- Truly remote work with flexibility to operate from anywhere within Australia or New Zealand.
- Significant ownership of systems and products due to the small team environment, allowing strong influence over the product's direction.
- Provision of a high-performance MacBook Pro tailored to meet role demands ensuring hardware is never a constraint.
Additional Information
Candidates must have legal authorization to work in Australia or New Zealand. Recruitment agencies or third-party submissions are not solicited.
