Job description

About Tapi

Tapi is a rapidly growing SaaS company transforming property maintenance with cutting-edge software solutions. Operating strongly across New Zealand and Australia, Tapi enables property managers to efficiently streamline their tasks through seamless automation and smart system integrations.

Typically, tradies face administrative hassles: chasing quotes, access, payments, and handling invoicing on their own time. Tapi’s software simplifies these processes—facilitating quoting, scheduling, communication, invoicing, and payments—to make property maintenance better for everyone involved.

Role Overview

You will take ownership of Tapi’s trade network in New Zealand, managing who joins, driving usage, and accelerating growth in each market.

Working city-by-city, you will recruit high-quality trade businesses in every category, help them quickly realize the benefits of Tapi, foster active engagement in the network, and then expand to new locations. This role involves fieldwork in various territories.

Key Responsibilities

  • Sign up growing trade businesses, particularly those with a few vans whose owners are still personally handling quotes and considering office hires; Tapi offers an efficient alternative.
  • Secure partnerships with larger operators by initiating contact, earning trust, and demonstrating Tapi’s value in transforming their workflows.
  • Ensure new trades are effectively onboarded, receive early value, and maintain usage beyond the initial excitement phase; act as their main point of contact for any issues.
  • Develop and refine a scalable playbook to accelerate market launches over time.

Performance Metrics

  • Market coverage based on trade category share with sufficient active users of Tapi.
  • Retention rate of trades active after 90 days.
  • Speed of agreement closures.
  • Overall quality and engagement levels of the trade network built.

Candidate Profile

  • Proven sales experience to tradies or similar audiences, such as hardware, building supplies, branded products, telco, fuel cards, equipment hire, or software sales.
  • Experience in independently prospecting and securing business through direct outreach, not relying on provided lists.
  • Ability to maintain consistent pipeline management without prompts, confidently discuss pricing and money matters without conceding under pressure.
  • Persistence and resilience to continue driving sales efforts even in challenging phases beyond initial wins.
  • Previous hands-on trade experience is beneficial but not mandatory; closing deals is the priority.

Work Philosophy

  • Operate with professionalism and perseverance — remain actively engaged with trades, persist respectfully over the long term.
  • Exhibit courage and determination when approaching significant trade operators and confidently uphold pricing policies.
  • Be creative and adaptable — continuously develop and improve processes, discarding ineffective methods.
  • Maintain an organized and transparent sales pipeline and improve territory management before moving on.
  • Provide outstanding support to trades to ensure lasting engagement beyond initial adoption.

Additional Details

  • Compensation comprises a base salary plus unlimited commission opportunities.
  • The role is based in Wellington, involving travel to newly opening territories.
  • Reporting line is to the Head of Operations.
  • You will pioneer this position, shaping the function while managing it.
  • Application requires submission of a resume and a brief description of the toughest sale you made and its outcome.
