Software Development Engineer – Platform & Products

About the Role

Join a stealth startup based in Doha focused on developing a cutting-edge agentic AI platform aimed at organizations delivering project work, including contractors, engineering and consulting firms, facilities operators, and large organizational departments including governmental entities.

As the Software Development Engineer – Platform & Products, you will be responsible for building and maintaining the web platform that powers these AI agents. Your work will cover user-facing applications, role-based access control, and essential backend services that enable teams to securely deploy AI agents on live projects. This role uniquely blends product development with backend engineering and involves mentoring 2 to 4 engineers while influencing core architectural and engineering frameworks like data models, agent boundaries, and service design standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and sustain web applications encompassing the agent orchestration layer, workflow components, and the SaaS platform.
• Create backend APIs to link AI services with the product ecosystem.
• Collaborate closely with AI, ML, and MLOps engineers to deliver full-featured solutions.
• Manage GitHub workflows, conduct code reviews, establish branching strategies, and oversee CI pipelines.
• Ensure the platform’s security, scalability, and readiness for production deployment.
• Transition AI features from experimental prototypes to production-grade implementations.
• Develop connectors to integrate with existing enterprise systems such as Oracle, Yardi, SAP, and Dynamics.
• Build and maintain Python-based backend services running on Google Cloud and Firebase infrastructures.
• Deliver frontend components using React and Next.js to support bilingual platforms in Arabic and English.
• Advance team practices for AI integration including prompt and evaluation reviews, agent-assisted development, and automation strategies.

Required Qualifications and Expertise

• Deep proficiency with modern web technologies such as React, Next.js, Node.js, Python, and RESTful API design.
• Experience implementing AI Agents within multi-tenant SaaS environments.
• Strong command of database systems, specifically Postgres and NoSQL platforms.
• Familiarity with GitHub operations, continuous integration/deployment workflows, and adherence to high code quality standards.
• Proven experience building enterprise-grade web applications.
• A minimum of six years developing production software, with a primary focus on backend development.
• Advanced Python skills emphasizing core language proficiency beyond framework reliance.
• Hands-on experience shipping production features involving large language models (LLMs), with insights into prototyping vs production feature differences, encompassing retrieval, prompt engineering, structured data outputs, failure handling, cost control, and latency management.
• Ability to design rigorous evaluation and regression testing protocols for AI systems with non-deterministic outputs.
• Experience integrating with enterprise systems like Oracle and Yardi, dealing with practical customer data models rather than theoretical APIs.
• Daily usage of coding agents with a critical understanding of their limitations and failure points.
• Candidates should be located in Qatar or open to relocation.

Preferred Additional Skills and Experience

• Background in AI-driven product development or data-intensive platforms.
• Experience working with major cloud platforms such as Google Cloud Platform, Microsoft Azure, or AWS.
• Familiarity with project-centric industries including construction, engineering, facilities management, procurement, or energy sectors.
• Prior experience in early-stage startup environments.
