Role Overview
This role offers participation in a product-focused engineering team responsible for developing and evolving digital solutions that enable customers to manage their physical and mobile credentials seamlessly across their workplace ecosystem. We have two positions available: one for an intermediate software engineer seeking to sharpen technical skills and a senior position for a professional capable of leading technology decisions and mentoring peers to ensure quality delivery.
As a software engineer, you will contribute to fundamental systems related to identity, access, and trust. Your efforts will directly influence customer onboarding, usability, and confidence in our products. Collaboration with product, design, and platform teams will be key to delivering secure, dependable, and user-friendly experiences that address customer requirements.
Ideal candidates are passionate about taking ownership, improving processes continually, and building dependable products used daily by customers. These roles focus on solving complex customer-facing challenges at scale and pushing modern software engineering standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Create, enhance, and maintain software modules and integrate cloud-based services.
- Break down and estimate tasks within an agile product development framework.
- Uphold secure and high-quality coding via best practices, testing, and peer code reviews.
- Improve system performance, reliability, and scalability.
- Collaborate in agile squads and cross-team environments.
- Keep current with emerging technologies and incorporate new trends to elevate team capabilities.
- For senior engineers: lead technical decisions, promote engineering excellence, and mentor team members.
Candidate Profile
- Relevant tertiary degree or equivalent professional background.
- Commercial software development experience; a minimum of 3 years preferred for intermediate roles, with greater expertise required for senior positions.
- Strong skills in C# programming.
- Experience designing and managing SQL databases such as PostgreSQL or SQL Server.
- Proficiency in building RESTful APIs.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines using Azure Pipelines or GitHub Workflows.
- Experience working within agile, product-centered teams.
- Senior candidates should demonstrate the ability to influence technology choices, lead engineering practices, and mentor colleagues.
- Knowledge of C++ and mobile development is a plus.
- Exposure to access control solutions involving traditional card systems and modern digital/mobile credentials and encoding is advantageous.
Working at Gallagher
You will join a globally minded company that values engineering expertise. Collaborate with smart, passionate colleagues on products deployed worldwide, with ample opportunity for personal and professional growth.
Benefits
- Competitive salary with an annual bonus program.
- Flexible hybrid work schedule, usually 3-4 days onsite and 1-2 days remote.
