Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled Software Engineer to develop PF Scout, Property Finder's innovative conversational property search tool. This role involves hands-on full-stack development, handling features across user interfaces, APIs, search technologies, and large language model (LLM) integration. The engineer will address complex challenges involving accuracy, speed, relevance, scalability, and cost efficiency while enhancing the search and AI-driven user experience for millions of customers.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, deploy, and maintain full lifecycle features for PF Scout using TypeScript/Node.js for backend and React-based frameworks for frontend.
• Manage features from design through production, including testing, monitoring, and iterative improvements based on user data and feedback.
• Tackle complex data-related challenges such as search retrieval, result ranking, data aggregation, caching, and handling large-scale property listings.
• Create and enhance AI-driven functionalities that incorporate LLMs, tool invocation, streaming data, conversation management, and fallback mechanisms.
• Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, data specialists, and developers to convert ambiguous user needs into elegant, dependable solutions.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum of 4 years software engineering experience developing production-quality, consumer-facing applications.
• Advanced expertise in TypeScript with a focus on Node.js backend development using frameworks such as Express.js or NestJS.
• Proficient in building modern frontend interfaces with React, Next.js or similar React ecosystems.
• Practical experience working with search or data analytics platforms like OpenSearch, Elasticsearch, ClickHouse, PostgreSQL, or Redis, including performance debugging.
• Track record of owning code in production, diagnosing operational issues, and ensuring system reliability and optimized performance.
• Strong foundation in software engineering best practices, such as testing, maintainability, and pragmatic system design.

Preferred Skills

• Experience developing applications powered by LLMs with capabilities like tool calling, multi-turn conversational state, streaming, and structured outputs.
• Familiarity with model hosting platforms such as AWS Bedrock, Google Vertex AI/Gemini, OpenAI, or equivalents.
• Knowledge of cloud-native technologies including AWS services like ECS/EKS, Lambda, SQS/SNS, CloudFront, RDS, and ElastiCache.
• Background working with marketplaces, recommendation engines, search products, or other high-scale consumer platforms.

• Demonstrates ownership by proactively identifying problems and delivering solutions beyond assigned tickets.
• Effectively communicates technical trade-offs to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, supported by data insights.
• Maintains high standards in code and design reviews, mentoring colleagues to elevate team capabilities.
• Balances pragmatic judgment to know when to build scalable systems versus delivering simpler solutions promptly, quantifying trade-offs.

Success Criteria

Within first months, independently lead and deliver significant PF Scout features, overseeing the entire lifecycle from user experience through backend integration with search and AI systems, and iteratively enhancing based on production metrics.
