Department Overview

The Avigilon Alta Video UI team manages the essential infrastructure for Motorola's video management systems (VMS). The current goal is to evolve the platform to enable deep integration across the Motorola product ecosystem. The team values high-quality engineering, architectural soundness, and creating robust, real-time tools.

The technology stack includes Vue 3, Pinia, and TypeScript on the frontend and Go on the backend, though strong software engineering fundamentals are prioritized over specific framework expertise. The team operates from a central Edinburgh office with a hybrid work approach, typically requiring two days onsite weekly.

Role Description and Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain software components for organizational products and systems.
• Employ engineering best practices and patterns in code development and maintenance.
• Create well-tested, maintainable code and perform debugging as necessary.
• Implement effective state management solutions and integrate APIs to support scalable systems.
• Understand Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) concepts and use version control tools like Git.
• Collaborate across teams to gather requirements and co-develop solutions.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• 1 to 3 years of professional software engineering experience focusing on HTML, CSS, TypeScript, and ideally modern frontend frameworks.
• Comprehension of application state management patterns and reactive programming concepts, including tools like Pinia, Vuex, or Redux.
• Experience working with RESTful APIs and websockets, alongside a solid grasp of web development fundamentals.
• Strong foundation in data structures, algorithms, and design patterns, with the ability to anticipate long-term solution impact.
• Proven ability to work effectively in team environments.
