About the Role

Join DSO National Laboratories, Singapore's premier defence research and development establishment dedicated to advancing technologies that enhance national security across diverse domains including air, land, sea, space, and cyberspace. Within the Human Systems Division, you will contribute to capabilities in Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear defence, human factors engineering, and behavioural science, safeguarding the Singapore Armed Forces and elevating operational safety and effectiveness.

Role Responsibilities

  • Collaborate in a research team utilizing qualitative, quantitative, and computational approaches to interpret human behaviours.
  • Analyze human behaviour at multiple scales including individual cognitive processes, small group interactions, and broader social dynamics.
  • Design research methodologies, construct coding schemes, and develop metrics to extract insights into human motivation and behaviour.
  • Implement quantitative and computational methodologies for data analysis and partner with computer scientists to create relevant technologies and software tools.
  • Conduct field work in collaboration with MINDEF/SAF stakeholders and maintain partnerships with academic and industry scientists.

Candidate Requirements

  • Background in computer science with an interest in solving social science challenges, such as computational social science, social data science, or business analytics.
  • Academic qualifications including a Degree, Masters, or PhD in fields like Applied Linguistics, Applied Psychology, Artificial Intelligence & Psychology, Business Economics and Psychology, Linguistics & Multilingual Studies, Psychology & Security Studies, Psychology & Sociology, or Strategic Marketing.
  • Proficiency in applied statistical techniques with experience in tools such as SPSS, R, or Python.
  • Competence in computational social science methods for big data analysis.
  • Solid foundation in social science research practices.
  • Keen interest or expertise in social and behavioural science theories.
