Site Engineer – Structural Steel Installation

Role Overview

Join our Project Execution team as a Site Engineer focusing on steel structures based in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage installation of structural steelwork, including platforms and support structures for Cargo and Baggage Handling Systems.
• Plan, coordinate, and organize daily steelwork activities, managing manpower, work areas, materials, tools, and equipment in collaboration with site supervisors.
• Develop and schedule work packages, installation sequences, and priorities to optimize site execution.
• Collaborate closely with civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and engineering teams to address all prerequisites and interface requirements aligned with installation phases.
• Examine approved drawings, specifications, and method statements to guarantee installation compliance.
• Detect any discrepancies in drawings or engineering related to construction and liaise with the engineering teams for prompt resolution.
• Track installation progress, productivity, manpower utilization, material and equipment availability, and site limitations; report regularly to the Site Manager.
• Manage surveying activities necessary for correct positioning, alignment, leveling, and verification of installed steel frameworks.
• Supervise site personnel and subcontractors to ensure safe, efficient, and standards-compliant execution of tasks.
• Coordinate proper material handling, receipt, storage, identification, and protection of steel components on site.
• Assist in quality inspections and ensure timely resolution of non-conformities, punch-list, and snag issues.
• Maintain required site records, reports, and documentation diligently.
• Adhere strictly to health, safety, security, environmental, and quality policies throughout site operations.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, Mechanical Engineering, or closely related fields.
• At least 5 years of hands-on site experience with structural steel installation in industries such as industrial, logistics, material handling, infrastructure, or similar sectors; prior involvement in Cargo or Baggage Handling Systems projects is a significant advantage.
• Demonstrated leadership in managing site teams or subcontractors for structural steel erection works.
• In-depth practical understanding of steel erection processes including installation sequencing.
• Proficient in reading and interpreting structural, fabrication, connection, and installation drawings.
• Knowledgeable in surveying techniques and equipment for precise positioning and alignment verification of steel structures.
• Experience with quality control for steel inspections and management of punch-list and snag rectifications.
• Skilled at coordinating steel installation alongside civil works, mechanical installations, conveyors, and other interfaces.
• Strong problem-solving capability with aptitude to detect and resolve construction and engineering discrepancies.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, adept at working within multidisciplinary, multicultural teams.
• Good command of English; familiarity with Arabic or other languages is beneficial.
• Flexibility and readiness to travel and work on projects anywhere inside or outside Saudi Arabia.
