Shift Lead

Role Overview

The Shift Lead at Walgreens is entrusted with opening and closing the store in the absence of management, managing cash operations, and ensuring the sales floor and stock areas are fully prepared for daily business. This position also involves safeguarding store access, including handling the store's back door for deliveries.

Customer Experience

• Warmly welcome and assist customers and patients, addressing their needs and resolving issues to ensure a positive interaction.
• Demonstrate and promote excellent customer service practices among team members, including proactive help, interpersonal courtesy, and thorough service until satisfaction.

Operational Responsibilities

• Hold responsibility for store keys, facilitating opening and closing when management is unavailable.
• Guide team members in coordinating warehouse and vendor order processes, including managing backdoor access for deliveries.
• Accountable for sales transactions on assigned cash registers, maintaining records of scanning errors, price checks, price modifications, voids, and more.
• Support management with order exception reviews, reverse logistics, promotional display development, store resets, and merchandising adjustments.
• Ensure precise inventory counts across departments, stockroom, and overstock; oversee outdate program compliance and stock rotation using FIFO method.
• Manage daily pricing changes, update signage to maintain pricing accuracy, and comply with local pricing/regulatory requirements.
• Assist with basic bookkeeping tasks such as cash reports, cash counts, ledgers, and bill payments as requested.
• Maintain store cleanliness and neat appearance internally and externally, requesting repairs when necessary in manager absence.
• Support product safety through proper food separation and adherence to placement policies.
• Assist pharmacy staff at the pharmacy window when needed.
• Ensure adherence to legal regulations concerning controlled products like alcohol and tobacco.
• Conduct bag checks of team members upon store exit.
• Adhere strictly to company policies and foster respectful coworker relationships.
• Perform special assignments and other duties as delegated.

Training and Development

• Participate in trainings and complete Personal Performance Learning (PPL) assignments as directed by management.

Communication

• Act as a communication bridge between management and staff by conveying assigned tasks during management absence.
• Report disciplinary concerns and customer complaints promptly to management.

Qualifications

• At least one year of experience in a leadership, supervisory, or retail key-holder role.
• Proficient in English language skills, including reading, writing, and speaking (except in Puerto Rico).

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of inventory control practices is preferred.
• Applicants with arrest or conviction records will be considered.
• Holding or maintaining a valid PTCB certification or pharmacy license as mandated by state laws.

Compensation

The hourly wage range for this role is $17 to $20.
