Job description
Position Overview
The Shift Lead plays a crucial role in managing store operations in the absence of store management by opening and closing the store, handling cash procedures, and ensuring that the store floor and stock rooms are prepared for business. They also oversee delivery access by managing the store's back door.
Customer Engagement
- Welcomes customers and patients, providing assistance with products and services and addressing their inquiries to guarantee positive experiences.
- Demonstrates and encourages customer service best practices among team members, including appropriate interpersonal interactions and proactive service behaviors.
Operational Responsibilities
- Hold and manage store keys to open and close the store when required.
- Support and coach team members with warehouse and vendor ordering processes, including managing deliveries.
- Accountable for sales registration on assigned cash registers, including handling scanning errors, price checks, voids, and modifications.
- Assist management with reviewing order exceptions and reverse logistics processes.
- Help develop and maintain merchandise displays, perform resets, and update layouts.
- Maintain inventory accuracy across departments, stockrooms, and overstock areas.
- Ensure adherence to the Outdate program with team members for product freshness.
- Manage department pricing, execute daily price changes, and maintain proper signage in compliance with local regulations.
- Support bookkeeping activities such as cash reporting, counting, ledger management, and bill payments as needed.
- Contribute to store maintenance, keeping it clean and orderly and facilitating necessary repairs.
- Assist with proper food handling practices and stock rotation using the first-in, first-out method.
- Maintain proficiency with store systems and equipment.
- Provide assistance at the pharmacy window when requested.
- Ensure compliance with laws governing regulated products like alcohol and tobacco.
- Conduct bag checks of team members before they leave the premises.
- Follow all company policies and maintain respectful coworker relationships.
- Complete special assignments and any additional duties as assigned.
Training and Development
- Participate in training sessions and complete Performance and Policy Learning (PPL) activities when directed by management.
Communication
- Act as the intermediary between management and non-management staff, communicating task assignments in management's absence.
- Report disciplinary matters and customer complaints to store management.
Qualifications
- Minimum of one year of leadership, supervisory, or retail key holder experience.
- Fluent in English reading, writing, and speaking (except in Puerto Rico).
- Preferred knowledge of store inventory control processes.
- Applicants with arrest or conviction records will be considered.
- Must obtain and maintain valid PTCB certification or state pharmacy license if required.

Compensation is influenced by factors such as location, skills, education, and experience. The position remains open until filled. Hourly wage ranges from $17 to $20.
