Job description
Role Overview and Responsibilities
As a Shift Lead at Walgreens located in Grand Bay, AL, you will take charge of opening and closing the store in the absence of store management. This includes starting all necessary systems, managing cash handling, and ensuring that the sales floor and stockroom are ready for the day. You will also be responsible for opening the back door to facilitate vendor deliveries during your shift. Your duties extend to processing product returns, voiding orders, managing customer refunds, securing cash drops to the safe, and maintaining sufficient cash change for registers.
You will play a key role in delivering an exceptional customer experience by greeting customers and patients warmly and assisting with their needs. Resolving queries and complaints promptly to ensure satisfaction is essential. You will exemplify and train team members on customer service best practices, emphasizing courtesy, proactive assistance, and thorough follow-up
Operational Duties
- Hold keys to the store and perform opening and closing operations as needed without management presence.
- Assist and coach team members with warehouse and vendor ordering processes, including reviewing and receiving orders and facilitating vendor deliveries.
- Maintain accurate cashier registers, record scanning errors, verify prices, handle price adjustments and void transactions efficiently.
- Support management in reviewing order exceptions and handling reverse logistics such as product returns and packaging.
- Help develop and maintain product displays including promotions, seasonal, and sale merchandise setups.
- Ensure inventory accuracy across all departments, stockroom, and overstock areas by regularly verifying counts.
- Facilitate the Outdate program compliance with team members to reduce expired stock.
- Manage pricing tasks including daily price changes, proper signage, and compliance with local pricing regulations.
- Assist with bookkeeping tasks including cash reports, counts, ledger entries, and bill payments as directed.
- Maintain store cleanliness and appearance, managing repair requests during management absences.
- Ensure proper food item separation and stock rotation, employing FIFO methods for consumable products.
- Operate store systems and equipment efficiently and safely.
- Support Pharmacy out-window operations as requested.
- Ensure adherence to state and local laws regarding the sale of regulated products such as alcohol and tobacco.
- Conduct team member bag checks before their departure from the store.
- Uphold company policies, promote respectful team interactions, and complete additional tasks or special assignments assigned.
Training and Communication
- Participate in required training and complete Personal Performance Learning (PPL) modules as directed by management.
- Act as the communication liaison between store management and team members during management absence by assigning tasks and reporting disciplinary or customer issues promptly.
Qualifications
- Minimum of one year experience in leadership, supervisory, or key holder roles in retail environments.
- Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English fluently (except in Puerto Rico).
- Preferred: Knowledge of store inventory control.
- Applicants with arrest and conviction records will be considered based on qualifications.
- Must obtain and maintain relevant PTCB certification or pharmacy license as mandated by state regulations.
