This is a unique opportunity to innovate at the ground level by reimagining optical system components, working with a top-tier engineering team dedicated to solving complex challenges in scaling optical technologies. Join us for a role that combines mission-driven objectives, rapid growth, and significant impact.

Position Summary

We invite a seasoned Process Engineer specialized in high-volume manufacturing processes to lead and manage assembly process development for optical transceivers, encompassing current 800G and next-generation 1.6T modules. This key position involves end-to-end ownership of assembly workflows including die attach, wire bonding, active alignment, and general assembly spanning from initial process creation to volume production. The role requires close collaboration with contract manufacturers, suppliers, and internal teams to drive product yields and foster continuous improvement, while supporting introduction and qualification of next-gen manufacturing processes and equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, validate, and implement assembly manufacturing processes for new transceiver products focusing on improving yield, efficiency, throughput, scrap reduction, and quality.
  • Manage complete process documentation such as specifications, work instructions, control plans, and failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA), ensuring all production line modifications are reviewed and approved.
  • Maintain oversight of the entire manufacturing process lifecycle including change control of product, process, material, and equipment adjustments within quality management systems.
  • Lead equipment selection and onboarding activities by defining specifications, collaborating with suppliers, and overseeing hardware and software development through manufacturing release.
  • Work closely with design and contract manufacturing teams to execute, refine, and sustain manufacturing processes adhering to design for manufacturing principles.
  • Coordinate with quality engineering for planning and conducting qualification, reliability, and burn-in tests to support new product introductions and process modifications.
  • Leverage data analytics and statistical process control to identify root causes of process deviations and implement corrective/preventive actions effectively.
  • Compile and analyze process and yield data into detailed reports summarizing trends and improvement areas.
  • Drive automation initiatives to scale manufacturing assembly processes for high-volume production environments.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Industrial, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or related discipline.
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in high-volume optical transceiver or laser manufacturing environments.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with a hands-on approach.
  • Proficiency in designing, developing, selecting, and implementing manufacturing processes and equipment specific to optical assemblies.
  • Expertise in one or more assembly processes such as die attach, wire bonding, active optical alignment, general assembly, product testing, or burn-in.
  • Experienced with statistical process control (SPC) and detailed reporting.
  • Thorough knowledge of quality management systems and relevant quality standards.
  • Skilled in statistical data analysis and data querying tools.
  • Knowledgeable in optics failure analysis techniques and tools.
  • Ability to work effectively in global, multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Excellent spoken and written English communication skills, including presentation abilities.
  • Willingness and availability for international travel.
