Position Overview

The Production Planner plays a vital role in enabling and scaling production for Lumilens' next-generation optical and silicon photonics products. Reporting directly to various teams, this role manages production schedules, material requirements, and ensures smooth flow of raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished items across manufacturing operations.

Responsibilities

• Create, implement, and oversee production schedules and material demands to maintain controlled movement of raw materials and finished products supporting optical and silicon manufacturing needs.
• Maintain balanced production plans aligning customer demands, master schedules, shop floor loads, material availability, and manufacturing capacity across photonics and silicon assembly operations.
• Inform management about work-in-progress status, material availability, inventory levels, and alert about potential disruptions affecting production or material supply for timely and cost-efficient execution.
• Schedule equipment and workforce, verify material supply-demand, and generate work orders or purchase requests for components needed in production builds.
• Coordinate cross-functionally with quality assurance, manufacturing, purchasing, engineering, inventory control, logistics, and demand planning to support ongoing production and new product introductions, ensuring readiness for launches.
• Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to transition new optical and silicon products smoothly from development to pilot and mass production stages, ensuring alignment on materials, schedules, and execution through the NPI lifecycle.
• Track parts and assembly movement through internal orders, stock transfers, and shipping requests to meet production timelines on optical and silicon products.
• Ensure supply adequacy by assessing inventory risks, backlog exposure, and creating recovery strategies to uphold customer commitments.
• Lead and manage assigned projects with internal stakeholders to improve schedule adherence, inventory precision, and continual enhancements in production planning processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree is required.
• At least 4 years experience in supply chain, production, or materials planning, or a minimum of 2 years relevant experience with an advanced degree.
• Demonstrated experience planning production in manufacturing, with strong skills in material flow, inventory, and scheduling control.
• Ability to analyze work-in-progress, supply availability, backlog risks, and production bottlenecks to meet delivery targets.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills for collaborating effectively with teams in manufacturing, engineering, quality, and supply chain.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with aptitude to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Proficient use of ERP systems including Material Requirements Planning (MRP) functions.
• Background in optical, silicon, semiconductor, or advanced manufacturing supply chains, including new product introduction and production ramp-ups.
• Solid foundation in mathematics, analytics, and statistics through education or professional experience.
• Experience managing projects and relevant certifications such as APICS CPIM, PMP, Six Sigma, Lean, or DMAIC; Master's degree a plus.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office tools and working under ISO 13485 and FDA regulatory environments.
• Strong verbal and written skills to understand and communicate key concepts with stakeholders clearly.
