Team & Role Overview
The Physical Design team at MediaTek is responsible for delivering high-quality digital backend design on advanced process chips featuring billions of transistors. The Senior/Staff Physical Design Engineer will spearhead IC physical design efforts for cutting-edge nodes such as 6nm, 4nm, 3nm, and beyond, managing the process from RTL to GDS.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead IC physical design tasks on state-of-the-art process technologies, covering end-to-end design flow from RTL to tapeout.
- Act as block coordinator for synthesis, APR, and physical verification across 10+ blocks, addressing critical design challenges and providing solutions to block owners.
- Take ownership of complex hierarchical SoCs with over 20 million instances and 1000+ macros, overseeing floorplanning, partitioning, and assembly.
- Serve as physical design project manager coordinating with frontend and signoff teams to ensure timely delivery of SoC physical design schedules culminating in successful tapeout.
Required Qualifications
- Deep expertise in IC design with proven leadership in tapeout projects.
- Strong command of UNIX/Linux environments.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language from C/C++, Python, TCL, or Perl.
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset to effectively partner with multiple teams, driving tasks to completion with quality and punctuality.
- Preference given to Singapore citizens and permanent residents due to location requirements.
