About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Research Engineer to lead advanced engineering projects focusing on machine learning and artificial intelligence. The position involves driving forward both practical applications and theoretical research, particularly in areas such as semiconductor design using AI, and fundamental AI research topics including large language models (LLMs), optimization approaches for deep learning, reinforcement learning, and generative models.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead complex engineering tasks within AI research projects.
- Enhance and scale algorithms and research prototypes to ensure robustness and effectiveness.
- Collaborate closely with researchers to align engineering objectives with research directions and project milestones.
- Provide mentoring and technical guidance to junior team members.
- Support the creation of research publications and documentation.
- Maintain and advance research tools, infrastructure, and workflows.
- Keep abreast of cutting-edge AI developments and best engineering practices.
Qualifications and Expectations
- Significant hands-on experience in implementing and optimizing machine learning systems and algorithms.
- Proficient programming skills in languages such as Python and C++.
- Proven leadership capability in engineering project management with autonomy and teamwork balance.
- Experience mentoring junior engineers or technical staff.
- Strong problem-solving aptitude and excellent written and oral communication skills, including technical writing.
Preferred Skills
- Expertise or experience in optimization methods, reinforcement learning, and large language models.
- Familiarity with deep learning frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, or JAX.
- Experience in designing scalable systems for research or production purposes.
- Background in semiconductor chip design or applied AI research fields.
- A history of contributing to technical publications or open source projects.
