About the Role
We are searching for an experienced Senior Storage Engineer responsible for the management and support of enterprise storage and SAN infrastructure spanning various storage technologies and platforms.
This role involves handling administration, performance tuning, availability, capacity planning, security, and lifecycle management for SAN, NAS, Object, Block, File, Software-Defined Storage, VMware vSAN, and SAN Fabric systems. It provides advanced technical support (L2/L3) and collaborates closely with teams across infrastructure, virtualization, networking, security, and applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and maintain enterprise storage solutions including SAN, NAS, Object, Block, and File systems.
- Manage Software-Defined Storage and VMware vSAN implementations.
- Handle SAN Fabric infrastructure tasks such as Fibre Channel connectivity, zoning, and fabric setup.
- Conduct storage provisioning operations: LUN creation, volume management, masking, mapping, and allocation.
- Monitor storage resources for capacity, performance, availability, and overall health.
- Configure and manage replication, snapshots, and data protection mechanisms.
- Integrate storage with virtualization, compute, database, and application environments.
- Perform storage-related firmware, software, and hardware platform upgrades.
- Resolve complicated L2/L3 storage and SAN-related incidents including root-cause analysis.
- Execute capacity planning and advise on storage expansion and optimization strategies.
- Support disaster recovery solutions, replication, and conduct DR testing.
- Implement and administer storage security policies and access controls.
- Collaborate with vendors to obtain technical support, troubleshoot issues, manage hardware replacements, and handle escalations.
- Participate actively in storage migration projects, technology refresh cycles, infrastructure upgrades, and transformation initiatives.
- Maintain detailed documentation including storage architecture diagrams, configurations, operational procedures, and technical manuals.
- Ensure compliance with storage operational requirements related to availability, security, backup, and business continuity.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Over 5 years of professional experience in enterprise storage or infrastructure engineering roles.
- Proven hands-on expertise in enterprise SAN and NAS storage environments.
- Experience working with Dell EMC, HPE, NetApp, or comparable enterprise storage platforms.
- Comprehensive understanding of Fibre Channel technology, SAN Fabric operations including zoning, LUNs, volumes, and provisioning.
- Proficiency with VMware vSphere and vSAN environments.
- Familiarity with storage replication, snapshot management, and disaster recovery methodologies.
- Robust troubleshooting capabilities and performance analysis skills.
- Experience in conducting storage firmware upgrades and managing hardware life cycles.
- Vendor management skills, including handling technical escalation processes.
- Background providing L2 and L3 infrastructure support within enterprise setups.
Preferred Certifications
- Certifications from Dell EMC or HPE in Storage technologies.
- VMware vSAN certification credentials.
- Brocade or Cisco SAN certification.
- VMware Certified Professional (VCP) accreditation is considered an advantage.
