Senior Staff Software Engineer

About the Role

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will play a key role in advancing the CisionOne media intelligence platform by developing and enhancing desktop and mobile applications along with supporting systems. You will work predominantly with Ruby on Rails on the backend and VueJS on the frontend alongside other relevant technologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Engage closely with Product Managers, Business Developers, Account Managers, and customers to gather and understand feature requirements and business challenges.
• Architect and implement data and software components by extending existing CisionOne architecture or creating new modules.
• Research and evaluate external libraries, APIs, and services to streamline development processes.
• Utilize AI-assisted development aids like GitHub Copilot critically, reviewing and testing AI-generated code for quality and security.
• Develop version-controlled, high-quality code following industry and company standards using Ruby on Rails and VueJS.
• Create automated unit and end-to-end tests to verify feature functionality.
• Participate in peer code reviews and ensure code maintainability, accuracy, and performance.
• Deploy code to preview and staging environments for validation and testing.
• Incorporate stakeholder feedback to refine solutions before production deployment.
• Deploy code into production environments and monitor for anomalies.
• Identify and resolve functional or performance issues reported by users.

Required Qualifications

• A strong background with 8-10 years of professional experience.
• Proficiency in Ruby on Rails and VueJS frameworks and relevant backend/frontend technologies.
• Skillful use of AI-powered coding tools like GitHub Copilot with a discerning eye for output quality and security.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Capability to lead complex software projects and deliver critical solutions.
• Strong debugging and troubleshooting expertise.
• Solid understanding of software engineering best practices and ability to advise teams accordingly.

Preferred Experience

• Familiarity with DevOps methodologies, particularly Kubernetes and Elasticsearch technologies.
• Experience related to media, news, or content sectors is a significant advantage.
• Knowledge of Excel, project management tools, CRM platforms, and Boolean search techniques.
