Department Overview

We offer an exciting opportunity to join the DevNet team at PlayStation as a senior full-stack web developer. DevNet is a worldwide-used web portal enabling developers to submit content such as games, movies, and music to the PlayStation platform.

Role Summary

The senior software engineer will focus on maintaining and modernizing a mature, fully featured web application while enhancing the developer portal. Candidates are expected to have hands-on experience in large web projects within agile Scrum teams and are encouraged to take leadership responsibilities and help guide the engineering team.

Primary Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and support a large-scale web application while actively modernizing it.
• Design and build new cloud-based services using Go, TypeScript, and AWS technologies.
• Create superior front-end user experiences collaboratively with Product and UX teams.
• Assist in breaking features into workable iterations and participate in technical design discussions.
• Seek continuous improvements in products, engineering practices, and development workflows.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues using advanced debugging and problem-solving skills.
• Engage in code reviews, collaborative programming, and knowledge exchange within the team.
• Coordinate with engineers and stakeholders across multiple locations including Dublin and London.
• Provide technical leadership, mentor teammates, and support engineering strategic decisions as suited to a senior position.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Extensive experience in full-stack web development.
• Proficient in at least one back-end programming language.
• Strong command of front-end technologies including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
• Experience working on large, complex, and mature web applications.
• Familiarity with PHP and openness to enhancing an existing PHP-based platform.
• Interest or experience in Go and TypeScript programming languages.
• In-depth knowledge of web application architectures, APIs, and web services.
• Ability to decompose complex technical challenges into maintainable solutions.
• Excellent debugging and analytical problem-solving capabilities.
• Experience with version control systems such as Git.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively within agile teams.
• Strong communication skills for effective cooperation with Product, UX, and DevOps teams.
• Adaptable and pragmatic mindset with a focus on continual improvement.
• For senior roles, aptitude in leading technical discussions, mentoring engineers, and steering technical strategies.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience building or operating cloud services on AWS.
• Hands-on experience with Go, TypeScript, or Python languages.
• Comfort working in Unix or Linux environments.
• Familiarity with agile methodologies such as Scrum, Kanban, or SAFe.
• Prior technical leadership or mentoring experience.
