Role Overview

We seek a Platform Engineer focused on Kubernetes-native systems and automation to help build the future of cloud gaming. This role involves designing and developing Kubernetes controllers and operators to automate platform service lifecycles and manage distributed systems reliably at a global scale.

Key Responsibilities

• Create Kubernetes controllers and operators for automating platform service lifecycles.
• Contribute to global workload placement systems enabling intelligent scheduling across Kubernetes clusters in cloud and on-premises environments.
• Develop Kubernetes APIs and Custom Resource Definitions providing maintainable interfaces for platform functions.
• Implement reconciliation logic to safely manage distributed system states.
• Automate provisioning, configuration, upgrades, and lifecycle management of Kubernetes components across hybrid cloud setups.
• Collaborate with platform and service teams to simplify operations of large distributed systems through automation.
• Enhance platform reliability, scalability, observability, and maintainability via continuous improvements.
• Investigate production issues and perform root cause analysis to boost platform dependability.

Requirements and Skills

• Deep knowledge of Kubernetes architecture, lifecycle, and concepts for workloads across cloud and on-premises.
• Proficient in software development with Go or interest in adopting Go.
• Experience developing for Linux environments.
• Hands-on involvement with Kubernetes components like controllers, operators, or APIs.
• Minimum three years of professional software development experience.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with eagerness to learn new technologies.
• Understanding of Kubernetes reconciliation patterns, declarative system design, and Communicating Sequential Processes (CSP) principles.
• Experience operating Kubernetes in production.
• Familiarity with tools and concepts such as controller-runtime, Kubebuilder, Custom Resource Definitions (CRDs), Common Expression Language (CEL), and Kubernetes API extensions.
• Knowledge of distributed systems across public cloud and on-premises infrastructure.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and GitOps workflows.
• Preferred experience with bare metal, hybrid cloud, multi-cluster Kubernetes deployments, and ecosystem projects like Cluster API (CAPI), SIG Multicluster, or Karmada.
