Job Overview

Join JPMorgan Chase as a Software Engineer II within the Public Cloud Enablement team based in Bournemouth. In this role, you will be part of an agile squad responsible for designing, enhancing, and delivering software components that power the firm's advanced technology products. Your work will primarily focus on coding secure, scalable, and stable solutions using Go (Golang) and operating on Kubernetes platforms.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and troubleshoot software solutions in specified technical domains, performing design and execution tasks at the foundational level.
• Write well-structured, secure code in at least one programming language, under peer guidance.
• Interpret architectural blueprints, design frameworks, and nonfunctional requirements to build resilient software conforming to defined architectures.
• Contribute to the development, deployment, and maintenance of scalable AWS cloud services aligned with company-wide cloud standards.
• Proactively apply automation techniques to streamline the Software Development Life Cycle and minimize manual effort.
• Identify and resolve basic code quality concerns.
• Utilize enterprise-approved AI-assisted coding tools to enhance code quality, speed, and productivity, rigorously validating outputs through peer review and automated testing.
• Employ SDLC toolchain utilities, including AI-automation, to maximize automation benefits.
• Analyze and synthesize data sets to support troubleshooting efforts and foster ongoing improvements.
• Break complex technical tasks into manageable units to effectively resolve issues.
• Participate actively in software engineering communities and events focusing on emerging cloud technologies.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Fundamental understanding of software, applications, and technical workflows within a domain such as cloud computing or artificial intelligence.
• Ability to collaborate in large teams with dedication to fostering an inclusive and innovative workplace culture.
• Proficient coding ability in one or more programming languages.
• Demonstrated practical experience leveraging enterprise-approved AI-assisted development tools for coding, testing, and documentation, coupled with critical evaluation of AI-generated outputs.
• Awareness of responsible AI utilization encompassing data sensitivity, secure input/output handling, and compliance with resiliency and security standards.
• Basic competency in business analysis, software development, maintenance, and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Familiarity with modern developmental toolsets and basic knowledge of technology trends and best practices across the industry.
• Foundational understanding of agile practices including CI/CD pipelines, application resilience, and security principles.

Preferred Attributes

• Experience or interest in cloud technologies, particularly AWS.
• Exposure to building services using Go (Golang).
• Knowledge of containerization and orchestration platforms such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Use or interest in AI-assisted developer tools like Copilot or Claude Code to improve engineering efficiency and code quality.
• Familiarity with Infrastructure-as-Code solutions (Terraform, CloudFormation, or AWS CDK).
• Understanding of monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and Dynatrace.
