Role Overview

We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Spatial Architect to spearhead the architecture, governance, and delivery assurance of enterprise GIS and spatial technology solutions. This role acts as a trusted consultant and technical authority responsible for defining spatial strategies, target architectures, cloud platform designs, data governance frameworks, and transformation roadmaps within complex geospatial settings.

Responsibilities

• Lead the strategic development and advancement of enterprise geospatial platforms and capabilities across large, multifaceted environments.
• Create architecture roadmaps that support business transformation, enhance operational efficiency, and meet long-term technology goals.
• Provide technical leadership to spatial projects ensuring solutions are suitable, scalable, and comply with enterprise standards.
• Oversee design of contemporary GIS ecosystems incorporating cloud technologies, data platforms, integration services, security measures, and operational support models.
• Direct spatial data transformation initiatives including governance, migration, quality improvement, and system interoperability programs.
• Evaluate solution designs, identify architectural risks, and offer guidance to delivery teams during project lifecycles.
• Collaborate with business and technology stakeholders to translate strategic goals into practical technology results.
• Conduct architecture workshops, technical reviews, and governance forums to foster continuous upgrades in spatial capabilities.
• Mentor and coach technical teams to establish best practices, reusable frameworks, and architectural standards.

Key Experience and Requirements

• Proven extensive experience in leading GIS, geospatial, or enterprise technology architecture initiatives within complex organizations.
• Australian citizenship is mandatory.
• Successful history of implementing enterprise-scale technology transformations, platform modernization, or spatial capability enhancement programs.
• Strong knowledge of geospatial technologies, spatial information management, enterprise integration, and data ecosystems.
• Practical experience designing and governing cloud-based solutions on AWS and/or Azure.
• Ability to serve as a trusted advisor to senior leaders providing architecture governance and technical oversight.
• Demonstrated leadership managing cross-disciplinary teams, vendors, and delivery partners on intricate programs.

Desirable Experience

• Work experience in sectors such as utilities, water, energy, mining, transport, telecommunications, infrastructure, or operationally intensive industries.
• Familiarity with asset management and operational platforms including enterprise maintenance, mobility, analytics, and operational support systems.
• Knowledge of leading geospatial and spatial data tools such as Esri platforms, FME, enterprise databases, integration frameworks, and cloud-native services.
• Experience in delivering enterprise data migration, data remediation, platform consolidation, or operating model transformation projects.
