About the Role
We seek an experienced Senior Software Engineer to design and develop the backend service layer supporting a mobile application used globally by millions. This role requires strong software craftsmanship, innovative problem-solving, and a keen focus on user experience and clean, maintainable code. You will join the Mobile Engineering team tasked with building new products and platforms that create seamless and engaging experiences across the entire customer journey—from pre-purchase to post-purchase interactions.
Responsibilities
- Create high-quality server-side applications powering award-winning mobile apps.
- Maintain a clean and efficient codebase through writing, refactoring, and removing obsolete code.
- Develop and support the Backend for Frontend (BFF) API layer.
- Resolve software defects and manage legacy systems.
- Collaborate closely with engineers, product managers, designers, and QA teams within a large organization.
- Design innovative solutions for complex, open-ended technical challenges.
- Integrate with customized backend services tailor-made for specific functionalities.
- Conduct performance analysis and implement optimizations to ensure efficient operation.
- Develop unit tests to uphold high code quality standards.
- Work effectively with asynchronous programming paradigms.
Requirements
- Between 5 and 8 years of hands-on experience in software development.
- Background in server-side application development, including code writing, refactoring, and removal.
- Advanced proficiency in Kotlin programming and build automation using Gradle.
- Deep knowledge of RESTful APIs, GraphQL (GQL), and RAML specifications.
- Experience with build tools and continuous integration pipelines.
- Aptitude for debugging, maintaining legacy codebases, and writing comprehensive unit tests.
- Understanding of asynchronous code design and ability to analyze and optimize application performance.
- Familiarity with Open Source technologies and ecosystems.
- Strong collaboration skills coupled with a proactive, self-driven approach.
- A bachelor's degree in computer science or an equivalent qualification.
