Lead Software Engineer - Java with Generative AI

About the Role

We seek an experienced Lead Software Engineer to champion the integration of AI, specifically leveraging GitHub Copilot, within development teams. This role focuses on coaching engineers to effectively utilize AI-assisted coding capabilities, optimizing code quality, improving documentation and testing practices, and fostering best practices around AI-driven software creation.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide guidance and coaching to development teams on maximizing GitHub Copilot use for enhanced productivity.
• Facilitate adoption activities and onboarding processes to integrate AI coding assistance into workflows.
• Analyze team development pipelines to recommend best practices related to AI-assisted coding.
• Organize knowledge-sharing sessions, demos, and practical workshops to build team proficiency.
• Gather data on Copilot adoption, gather user feedback, and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
• Create comprehensive documentation covering usage guidelines, processes, and best practices.
• Collaborate with Scrum teams and support staff to resolve issues and assist enablement.
• Represent the team in client discussions, status updates, and adoption progress reviews.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Minimum of 8 years’ professional experience in software development.
• At least 1 year in a leadership or team coordination position.
• Proficient coding skills in Java 8 or higher.
• Strong expertise in Microservices architecture, RESTful APIs, and system design principles.
• Familiarity with Generative AI concepts including fundamentals and prompt engineering.
• Solid understanding of Agile and Scrum frameworks.
• Experience working with GitHub Copilot and similar AI-powered development tools.
• Knowledge of software development life cycle (SDLC), coding conventions, and typical developer workflows.
• Excellent communication, coaching, and stakeholder management capabilities.
• Demonstrated problem-solving aptitude across technical and team contexts.
• Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and engage with client stakeholders.
• English language proficiency at a minimum B2 level.

Preferred Additional Skills

• Working knowledge of Python, Angular frameworks, or other contemporary development technologies.
• Experience with GitHub repositories, continuous integration and deployment pipelines, and DevOps methodologies.
• Previous exposure to AI or GenAI tools aimed at improving developer productivity.
• Background in platform adoption support or related client enablement roles.
