As a Senior Software Engineer III, you will be responsible for the full software development life cycle (SDLC), including designing, coding, testing, debugging, and supporting software applications that align with the company's objectives. Your work will encompass developing new software systems, enhancing current applications, and maintaining production support, working independently on complex projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create, develop, and sustain applications using C#, .NET Core, and ASP.NET Core while building and supporting REST and WCF APIs.
  • Design and implement Azure-native solutions utilizing Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Azure Functions, and Azure Storage.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines leveraging GitHub Actions, Harness, and JFrog automation tools.
  • Conduct code reviews to support peer engineers and maintain code quality.
  • Contribute actively within an Agile development environment by collaborating with product managers, business analysts, QA professionals, and fellow developers to refine requirements and user stories.
  • Translate user needs into technical artifacts, encompassing design, implementation, review, and testing phases.
  • Communicate progress consistently with team members and program managers.
  • Provide support for production systems and lead continuous improvement efforts including performance tuning, code optimization, refactoring, and increasing automation.
  • Proactively manage engineering risks by monitoring issues and planning mitigation strategies.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies, engineering practices, standards, and tools.
  • Cooperate effectively with other departments and abide by company policies and legal frameworks.
  • Perform additional reasonable duties aligned with role scope as assigned.

Qualifications and Expertise

  • Possess a T-shaped skill profile with deep expertise in a primary software platform or technology along with extensive knowledge of related tech areas.
  • Strong proficiency in C#, .NET Core (version 6 or higher), and ASP.NET Core frameworks.
  • Experience with API development, including RESTful services and WCF.
  • Demonstrated expertise in CI/CD practices, particularly using GitHub Actions, Harness, and JFrog.
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure services such as AKS, Azure Functions, and Azure Storage.
  • Competent in containerization and orchestration technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Experience working within Agile methodologies and frameworks.
  • Good understanding of source control systems, especially GitHub.
  • Knowledge of software engineering best practices and practical application thereof.
  • Preferred skills include Python programming and familiarity with generative AI technologies.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to articulate complex technology concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Advanced analytical, problem-solving capabilities, and organizational skills.
  • Customer-oriented mindset with the ability to support end user and business needs.
  • Awareness of production support processes and incident/problem management.
  • An innovative and adaptable approach to evolving technologies and change.

Education and Experience

  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or comparable knowledge acquired via professional experience.
  • A minimum of six years' experience in software development within the Microsoft .NET ecosystem.
  • Experience in regulated financial services environments, specifically insurance, is advantageous.
