About the Role
Join our Supply Chain Management team as a Staff Software Engineer, where you will define, secure, and implement technical solutions addressing complex business challenges. This pivotal position supports scaling production from 1.2 million to over 2.4 million units weekly following software consolidation. You will accelerate development, enhance decision-making, and resolve problems efficiently. Collaborating closely with adjacent teams, you will help establish clearer system architectures and team boundaries to foster autonomy. You will also liaise directly with business stakeholders and tech teams servicing local markets, reporting to the Director of Engineering in the Production tribe. Please note this role does not involve people management responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead technical decision-making within the tribe, overseeing architecture, design, development, deployment, and operational excellence.
- Guide teams in architectural design to maintain consistent architectural standards across the tribe and beyond.
- Dedicate significant effort to directing AI-assisted code generation, critically reviewing outputs, and refining logic to align with organizational requirements.
- Address high-impact software challenges involving dependencies, data integrity, compliance, and architectural transformation, navigating primarily greenfield (70%) and legacy (30%) environments.
- Mentor junior engineers and cultivate a culture focused on continuous learning and professional development.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Over 10 years of engineering experience, with a minimum of 2 years at a staff or principal engineering level with technical leadership responsibilities.
- Proficient in collaborating with diverse stakeholders and solving real-world problems through software engineering.
- Full-stack expertise, including hands-on experience with languages such as C#, Python, Golang, and modern frontend technologies.
- Experienced in leveraging AI coding agents within production environments, applying advanced techniques like context engineering, workflow decomposition, and the establishment of robust guardrails.
- Familiarity with data engineering concepts, including data modeling, governance, quality assurance, and handling of data storage and processing.
- Skilled in designing modular systems supporting synchronous and asynchronous communication methodologies.
- Committed team player passionate about mentoring, knowledge sharing, and promoting best engineering practices such as CI/CD, TDD, BDD, DDD, and design patterns.
- Adopts an agile mindset to encourage cross-functional team collaboration.
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with front-end developers, designers, product managers, and global teams.
