Job description
About the Position
This role involves directing and supporting a team of software engineers focused on data privacy and security. You will lead technical projects, oversee software development, and contribute to setting product strategy within Google’s security and privacy domains. Your leadership will encompass managing multi-site projects and coordinating across teams to maintain foundational elements behind Google's flagship products.
Responsibilities
- Establish and clearly communicate team goals aligning with the wider organizational objectives and coordinate strategy and decision-making processes across multiple teams.
- Define role-based expectations for team members, hold regular performance and growth discussions, provide constructive feedback, and mentor personnel.
- Create and maintain medium-term technical roadmaps for one or several teams to anticipate future challenges and infrastructure requirements.
- Contribute to designing, directing, and validating system architectures within the scope of the organization's broader area and develop code to address complex and ambiguous issues.
- Critically review and provide feedback on code to ensure adherence to quality standards, including style, accuracy, testability, and efficiency.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- A minimum of eight years programming experience with C++, Java, or Go.
- At least three years of experience creating software solutions focused on security or data privacy, such as identity and access management.
- Three years in technical leadership roles.
- At least two years in people or team management capacities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or equivalent technical discipline.
- Three years working within complex, matrixed organizational structures.
Additional Information
The position requires in-person interviews as part of the recruitment process. Candidates may indicate their preferred work location between Munich, Germany or Zürich, Switzerland. Compensation for the Munich location ranges from €156,000 to €159,000 annually, plus a 20% bonus target, equity options, and benefits.
