Role Overview
We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join our Financial Analytics team. In this role, you will develop and maintain complex data pipelines, transformation logic, and automated data quality validations within a multi-jurisdictional financial data platform based on PostgreSQL data warehouse and Airflow orchestration.
Key Responsibilities
- Enhance and modify existing reporting workflows to boost accuracy, performance, and usability.
- Create new reporting pipelines and data sets aligned with business needs.
- Automate data delivery processes to increase efficiency.
- Develop and implement automated data quality checks.
- Troubleshoot and resolve data quality issues.
- Work closely with business stakeholders to gather and clarify reporting requirements and ensure outputs meet expectations.
Candidate Requirements
- Minimum of 4 years experience in analytics engineering or related data roles.
- Advanced skills in PostgreSQL including stored procedures, functions, complex common table expressions, window functions, slowly changing dimension type 2, and query plan optimization.
- Strong knowledge of data warehouse design including staging, core, and data mart layers, incremental loading, and slowly changing dimensions.
- Proficient hands-on experience with Apache Airflow for DAG authoring, scheduling, dependency management, and failure recovery.
- Experience with version control systems like Git (GitLab or GitHub) and JIRA for project tracking.
- Expertise in designing and evolving data warehouse architectures and data models.
- Proven ability to build robust and maintainable ELT/ETL pipelines in production environments.
- Experience implementing automated data quality controls.
- Strong understanding of financial and trading domain concepts, capable of interpreting requirements and communicating logic effectively to stakeholders.
- High autonomy in reverse engineering undocumented systems, root cause analysis, and owning pipelines and calculation logic end to end.
- Comfortable leveraging AI-assisted development tools such as Claude, Copilot, or Cursor to enhance productivity.
Desirable Skills
- Experience in using dbt, particularly in migration or adoption projects.
- Knowledge of Snowflake or interest in integrating it as a target data architecture.
- Python programming skills for scripting, automation, and pipeline tooling.
- Previous experience in fintech or financial services sectors.
