Team and Role Overview
Reporting to a Senior Technical Director within the Game Developer Experience (GDX) team, you will help build and scale continuous integration (CI) ecosystems that support build and preflight processes across multiple EA games. GDX aims to deliver an optimized CI platform that balances performance, cost, and adapts to the evolving demands of game development teams. This is a hybrid role based in Vancouver, where you will collaborate with internal teams and studio partners to enhance reliability, scalability, and efficiency of the build platform.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, Azure DevOps, and GitLab.
- Develop automation scripts using C#, PowerShell, Bash, or equivalent languages.
- Diagnose build failures and implement improvements to build performance.
- Support Git-based version control workflows; familiarity with Perforce is advantageous.
- Automate infrastructure setup using Terraform, Packer, Ansible, or Chef.
- Work collaboratively to enhance system reliability, observability, and developer workflow efficiency.
- Participate in incident response and ongoing system improvements.
Required Qualifications
- At least 7 years as a Software Engineer with progressively greater responsibilities.
- Experience managing large-scale build or release systems, preferably within AAA game development or DevOps platforms.
- Strong understanding of CI/CD principles and workflows.
- Proficiency in one or more scripting or programming languages, including C#, PowerShell, or Bash.
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code and configuration management tools.
- Excellent problem-solving capabilities, able to recognize risks and devise effective solutions.
- Effective communication skills and ability to thrive in a hybrid, collaborative work environment.
Compensation and Benefits
For residents of British Columbia, salary ranges between $122,300 and $170,700 CAD, varying by exact location (e.g., Vancouver vs. Victoria). Compensation is influenced by education, certifications, experience, skills, and business needs.
The benefits package includes:
- Three weeks of vacation annually to start
- Ten days of sick leave per year
- Paid top-up to EI/QPIP benefits during parental leave (12 weeks maternity, 4 weeks parental/adoption)
- Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance
- Life and disability insurance
- Retirement plans
- Potential eligibility for bonuses and incentive programs
