Senior Software Engineer II - Java Microservices

Role Summary

This position involves translating product strategies and business priorities into actionable features across scrum teams. The Senior Software Engineer II will assume multiple roles such as feature lead, developer, product designer, QA, and project manager. The role requires collaborating closely with Product Managers and stakeholders to provide strategic vision and execution guidance for product development.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement product vision, roadmap, and identify growth possibilities.
• Conduct market and competitor analysis to define product-market fit and business justification.
• Support execution of value propositions and business cases.
• Lead and coordinate cross-functional teams throughout the organization.
• Architect system components within investment segments, ensuring comprehensive technical expertise.
• Design systems pertinent to the investment area and support Product Managers in planning and performance analysis of products.
• Engage with customers throughout product lifecycle to extract valuable insights.
• Translate stakeholder requirements into well-defined backlog items and user stories with acceptance criteria.
• Prioritize backlog items ahead of sprints and collaborate with architects on technical decisions.
• Identify opportunities for business process improvements and automation.
• Coordinate effort allocation aligned with value delivery in releases.
• Participate in technical and sales enablement activities.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in business or technical disciplines.
• Minimum 8 years of industry experience in data engineering and product management.
• Strong proficiency in Java backend development with extensive experience in microservices architecture.
• Expertise using databases, specifically Mongo Atlas, and REST API development/consumption.
• Proven history designing and developing data or software products.
• Experience with cloud-native technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, Kafka.
• Working knowledge of agile and scrum methodologies.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms AWS, Azure, or GCP, as well as Redis, Datadog, and Codefresh.
• Basic understanding of data ETL processes preferred.
• Experience with data visualization tools like Tableau or Power BI.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, strong interpersonal skills, and ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
• Capability to manage multiple priorities and meet time-sensitive goals.

AI-related Expertise

• Hands-on use of AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot and Cursor for coding support, documentation, and testing.
• Familiarity with Large Language Model APIs and agentic workflows, applying them effectively in software engineering.
• Knowledge of responsible AI principles covering bias mitigation, security, explainability, and ethical use of AI outputs.

Preferred (Optional) Skills

• Experience with frontend technologies like Node.js and React.js.
• Understanding of Spark Framework, Snowflake, and Databricks.
• Hands-on experience with Terraform.
