Java Backend Engineer

Role Overview

We are hiring an experienced Java Software Engineer for a high-performing application software team based in Abu Dhabi. This role involves creating and developing backend software for state-of-the-art cellular and secure communication platforms within a complex, distributed, and performance-sensitive environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct research, design, and development of advanced cellular communication solutions utilizing Kotlin, Java, Akka, Gradle, GitLab, and Docker.
• Architect and implement backend systems using Domain-Driven Design (DDD), reactive programming, and actor-based models.
• Develop and maintain continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) pipelines, including comprehensive unit, integration, and end-to-end testing.
• Create scalable, message-driven, and high-performance backend services.
• Work collaboratively with software engineers, system architects, and product managers to produce reliable technical solutions.
• Engage in architectural and technological decision-making.
• Participate actively in Agile teams, adopting relevant methodologies, tools, and mindset.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in Computer Science or allied disciplines.
• Over 10 years of experience in Java and Kotlin software development.

Required Competencies

• Proficiency in functional programming, message-based communication, reactive programming, Domain-Driven Design, and test-driven development (TDD).
• Ability to interpret technical documentation and develop tools accordingly.
• Self-motivated with strong capabilities in planning and delivering tasks efficiently.
• Collaborative team player experienced in Agile workflows.
• Strong analytical skills with expertise in problem-solving and debugging.

• Upper-intermediate proficiency in English, both spoken and written.
