Role Overview

Unlike typical front-end roles where much of the work is hidden, this position involves creating interfaces that users actively engage with to control robots. The goal is to design intuitive and reliable screens that enable even first-time robot operators to perform their tasks independently. You will join a team that prioritizes fast delivery while maintaining highly crafted software quality with significant opportunity to influence product direction.

Challenges You Will Address

• Design UI responses for scenarios such as intermittent network drops when a robot operates in areas with poor Wi-Fi connectivity, ensuring displayed information is accurate and trustworthy.
• Handle live streaming data from thousands of robots spread across multiple countries and time zones, while keeping the interface responsive and smooth to use.
• Create touchscreen interfaces usable even by users wearing gloves and in languages unfamiliar to you, keeping the experience clear and accessible.
• Develop consistent UI experiences for multiple device types without redundant development efforts.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain user interfaces for robot operation accessible via web, mobile, robot hardware, and future platforms.
• Translate detailed design mockups into pixel-perfect screens.
• Implement real-time data synchronization using WebSockets and handle intermittent connection issues to ensure UI accurately reflects robot statuses.
• Optimize performance focusing on load times, animations, and latency between robot events and UI updates.
• Create reusable UI components to reduce duplicated work across projects.
• Deliver frequent software releases using automated build pipelines and rapid iteration cycles.
• Collaborate closely with design and product teams, contribute to product direction, and participate actively in code reviews to improve code quality.

Required Qualifications

• At least 5 years of professional front-end development experience with end-to-end ownership of production applications, including deployment and maintenance.
• Expertise in React and TypeScript.
• Strong foundation in HTML, JavaScript/TypeScript, and CSS.
• Experience developing complex UIs interfacing with live device data rather than static forms or tables.
• Comfortable working with APIs and real-time communication protocols such as WebSockets and WebRTC.
• Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new codebases, frameworks, and evolving priorities.
• Demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality work swiftly without sacrificing attention to detail; precision matters, even down to pixel-level accuracy.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Flutter, Dart, or other mobile frameworks is a plus.
• Background in robotics, IoT, or connected hardware applications such as telemetry and device fleet management.
• Knowledge of mobile app deployment processes including staged rollouts, store reviews, hotfixes, and rollback procedures.
• Expertise in designing embedded or kiosk-style UIs that are operated under challenging conditions (gloved hands, harsh lighting).
• Familiarity with internationalization and multi-language user interfaces.
• Experience with geospatial or mapping UIs related to robot navigation.
• Prior ownership of design systems or component libraries.
• Implementing front-end testing strategies, continuous integration with component testing, visual regression, and performance monitoring.
• Understanding of robotics communication stacks such as ROS, OpenRMF, and MQTT.
