Role Summary

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to contribute to the development and operation of backend services that underpin the region's premier real estate marketplace. This role involves working on high-demand consumer-facing applications where performance, reliability, and cost efficiency impact millions of users. This senior position requires full ownership of services from design through deployment and an ability to influence architectural decisions beyond the immediate team.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect, develop, and maintain backend services that drive core marketplace functionalities.
• Manage your projects end-to-end, including design, coding, testing, deployment, monitoring, and iterative improvements guided by live production insights.
• Create new backend features primarily with TypeScript and maintain existing services built in Go.
• Work closely with product managers, designers, and front-end engineers to turn business needs into robust, maintainable solutions.
• Champion operational excellence through monitoring, alerting, incident response, and ongoing efforts to enhance service reliability and performance.
• Mentor fellow engineers, perform thorough design and code reviews, and help establish backend engineering standards and best practices.

Required Qualifications

• A minimum of six years’ experience as a backend engineer, preferably on high-traffic systems.
• Advanced proficiency in backend development using TypeScript (Node.js), the primary technology for new services.
• Familiarity with Go, or a willingness to quickly upskill, as maintenance and enhancements of existing Go-based services are necessary.
• Strong expertise in microservices architecture, including API design (REST and gRPC), service boundaries, versioning, and communication between services.
• Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure and container orchestration, specifically AWS services (ECS/EKS, Lambda, SQS/SNS, CloudFront, RDS, ElastiCache) and Kubernetes deployments.
• Practical knowledge of data stores and search technologies such as relational databases (MySQL/PostgreSQL), OpenSearch/Elasticsearch, and Redis, including schema design, indexing, and query performance optimizations.
• Experience with event-driven systems and asynchronous processing using tools like Kafka or SQS.
• A solid foundation in observability and reliability practices, involving metrics, structured logging, distributed tracing, SLOs, and managing incidents.

Preferred Extras

• Prior experience integrating AI or large language model features into production services, including cost and latency optimizations for model calls (e.g., AWS Bedrock).
• Experience with edge computing technologies (Lambda@Edge, CDN logic) and handling multi-region deployments.
• Familiarity with billing or subscription management platforms, identity solutions, or geospatial/location data.
• Background working with marketplace, classifieds, or other two-sided platform products.
