Role Overview
Join an innovative Brisbane-based company as a Senior Scientist / Experimental Lead focused on advanced materials and battery technologies. This leadership role offers the opportunity to oversee complex experimental designs, laboratory execution, and product development within a growing technical team.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and carry out experiments supporting product evolution and commercialization.
- Develop methods and testing protocols for advanced material evaluations.
- Lead analytical testing programs including electrochemical assessments.
- Manage multiple experimental projects ensuring high data integrity and thorough reporting.
- Interpret experimental data to draw actionable technical conclusions.
- Drive development and optimization of new materials and technologies.
- Contribute to technical documentation, intellectual property, and patent filings.
- Mentor junior scientists and provide technical leadership in the lab.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is a seasoned scientist with expertise in materials science, chemistry, chemical engineering, or related disciplines and a passion for hands-on experimentation combined with strategic program oversight.
Required Skills and Experience
- PhD or equivalent professional experience in a scientific field.
- Minimum of 3 years post-PhD industry experience.
- Proven ability to design and implement sophisticated experimental research.
- Solid understanding of electrochemical principles and methods.
- Experience with chemical and materials characterization techniques.
- Background in product development and managing technical projects.
- Familiarity with quality-controlled laboratory environments.
- Exposure to lithium-ion batteries, energy storage systems or advanced materials preferred.
- Strong skills in technical reporting and experimental data analysis.
- Experience supporting and mentoring less experienced technical staff.
