Role Overview
The Senior Road Expert will provide independent, senior-level highway engineering expertise, acting as a trusted advisor for intricate infrastructure initiatives. The focus is to ensure highway designs are technically sound, compliant with standards, safe, feasible to build, well coordinated, and aligned with project approval processes and schedules.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and assure the technical quality of highway design, guaranteeing it meets standards, governance requirements, and industry best practices.
- Critically review and challenge design outputs to mitigate risks and ensure safe, coordinated, and constructible solutions.
- Engage stakeholders and regulatory authorities to facilitate approvals and oversee consultant activities for effective project delivery.
- Provide technical direction, encourage knowledge sharing, and initiate continuous improvement programs to uphold design excellence and optimize value.
- Manage design delivery, including resources and operational performance across projects, ensuring they align with organizational goals.
- Serve as the central point for design management, enforcing governance, regulatory compliance, and fostering ongoing enhancements.
- Contribute to project delivery, procurement, and business growth efforts supporting successful client outcomes.
- Encourage technical excellence, capability building, and collaboration while supporting the company’s net zero carbon ambitions.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering; a Master’s degree is preferred.
- Chartered status or equivalent professional engineering accreditation is desirable.
- Extensive experience in highway design covering major infrastructure projects, with significant regional experience in the Middle East.
- Proven track record in delivering projects and programs within the consultancy sector.
- Strong skills in geometric design, pavement engineering, drainage systems, interchange planning, and road safety principles.
- Proficiency in highway design software tools and effective engagement with regulatory authorities.
