Job description

About the Role

At Air Products, innovation drives us forward as we bring together diverse expertise to achieve ambitious projects. The NEOM Green Hydrogen Project represents one of the most intricate and large-scale capital ventures, where Air Products serves as the EPC contractor alongside the NEOM Green Hydrogen Company (NGHC).

This Senior Project Engineer position plays a crucial role in ensuring the safe and on-time completion of commissioning, startup, and turnover phases within the project. Additionally, the role takes charge of coordinating cybersecurity preparedness aligned with project execution requirements.

Operating primarily on site in Duba, Tabuk Region, Saudi Arabia, on an 8-weeks-on / 2-weeks-off rotation, the engineer will facilitate smooth collaboration among multidisciplinary teams, bridging construction, commissioning, controls, IT/OT cybersecurity, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders to manage interfaces effectively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support and drive commissioning, startup, and turnover efforts according to approved plans, safety protocols, and execution methods.
  • Manage interfaces across disciplines including Electrical, Instrumentation, Controls, IT/OT, Mechanical, Construction, and Operations to ensure commissioning readiness.
  • Monitor project schedules, highlight delays, and accelerate critical activities involving subcontractors and internal teams, escalating issues through project governance channels as necessary.
  • Coordinate cybersecurity readiness efforts during execution and turnover stages, ensuring compliance with project cybersecurity plans.
  • Act as the primary on-site coordination point for compliance with SAIS / HCIS and National Cybersecurity Authority (NCA) standards, aligning Engineering, OT Cybersecurity, Digital Technology, and Project Controls teams.
  • Organize and follow up on cybersecurity coordination meetings with various stakeholders, maintain action items, and track dependencies for timely resolution.
  • Maintain detailed trackers for commissioning and cybersecurity readiness tasks to ensure prompt completion and transparent communication to leadership.
  • Support change management processes, ensuring that late-stage design, installation, commissioning, or startup changes are assessed for impacts on schedule, cost, and compliance.
  • Identify, document, and escalate risks related to technical, schedule, cybersecurity, or stakeholder issues to the Project Manager and respective leads.
  • Prepare and provide input for weekly and monthly status reports, highlighting commissioning progress, cybersecurity readiness, risks, and constraints.
  • Champion a culture of safety and compliance by ensuring all commissioning and site activities conform to approved procedures, regulatory requirements, and emergency preparedness standards.

Candidate Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation & Controls, Electronics & Communications, Information Technology, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Over 10 years of professional experience in Oil & Gas or large-scale industrial projects within the Middle East, specifically with commissioning, startup, or turnover responsibilities.
  • Proven track record throughout the entire project lifecycle, including overseeing schedule, cost, risk, safety, quality, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Familiarity with industrial control systems, operational technology environments, and hands-on execution coordination within EPC or PMC project settings.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety and regulatory compliance during commissioning and cybersecurity execution activities.
  • Ability to uphold Air Products’ environment, health, and safety (EHS) policies, site-specific procedures, and cybersecurity governance standards.
  • Proactive in identifying hazards, potential execution risks, and compliance shortcomings, with effective escalation to maintain project integrity.

Additional Information

This role is based on-site in Duba, Tabuk Region, with a rotational schedule of eight weeks on followed by two weeks off. Candidates will engage closely with various project teams to ensure critical deadlines and safety standards are met throughout execution phases.
