Overview
AtkinsRéalis seeks an experienced Senior Planning Engineer to join their team in AlUla, Saudi Arabia. This role supports the delivery of high-profile projects including mixed-use developments, hospitality venues, cultural sites, and recreational landmarks across the Middle East. The incumbent will be responsible for creating, updating, and monitoring project schedules, providing strategic planning inputs, and delivering schedule performance analyses throughout all project phases.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop initial baseline project schedules with minimal preliminary information encompassing multiple types of developments.
- Assist in preparation and management of overarching programmes covering design, procurement, and construction timelines alongside related supporting documentation.
- Create baseline schedules covering all project stages from initiation through completion, with clear identification of stage gates.
- Coordinate the preparation and integration of master planning, engineering, procurement, and construction schedules.
- Define project reporting protocols and prepare monthly progress presentations; develop standardized dashboards for project tracking across designers and contractors.
- Thoroughly review schedules and reports by designers and contractors to ensure alignment with project goals.
- Analyze schedule trends to detect risks and propose corrective measures; continuously monitor actual versus planned progress.
- Track engineering design progress, procurement status, construction, and commissioning activities.
- Utilize earned value management for progress assessment and to pinpoint deviations requiring corrective action.
- Collaborate with Project Controls Manager and project teams to assure programmes comply with master plans and contract requirements.
- Maintain daily communication with design teams, project management consultants, main contractors, subcontractors, and internal staff.
- Conduct detailed studies related to scheduling, manpower allocation, cash flow, and materials management.
- Attend offsite client meetings as necessary.
- Monitor schedule adherence, especially regarding critical deadlines.
- Support defence and approval process for time extension claims or significant scheduling modifications.
- Uphold high professional standards and maintain information currency for the planning team; ensure team members have necessary information to perform effectively.
- Implement consistent administrative procedures for planning activities to be followed by all planners within construction management.
- Engage with project management under the direction of the Project Director to achieve key deliverables.
- Incorporate stakeholder input and approvals into baseline schedules.
- Deliver high-level weekly schedule updates.
- Identify and report issues affecting project progress and recommend performance improvements.
- Standardize scheduling and reporting tools, templates, and instructions across the programme.
- Track submissions against scheduling requirements.
- Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for program management.
Candidate Profile
- Degree qualified in construction management, civil engineering, or related discipline, with membership or chartership from a recognized construction professional body.
- Approximately 15 years' experience, with a proven history in heritage, hotel, master planning, museum, cultural, and pavilion projects.
- Minimum of 5 years' regional experience in the Middle East is preferred.
- Proficiency in Arabic language (speaking and writing) is considered an advantage.
