Job Overview
Wood is seeking an experienced Senior Pipelines Engineer to join our team in Doha, Qatar. This role involves close collaboration with a multidisciplinary group of designers and engineers, supporting key objectives in major Front End Engineering Design (FEED) projects. The successful candidate will act as a leader, guiding the engineering team to convert initial project information into comprehensive design documents and specifications.
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee a team of pipeline engineers and designers, ensuring high-quality outputs.
- Ensure all FEED and engineering deliverables comply with industry standards across oil and gas processing, production, export, and carbon capture initiatives.
- Supervise engineering personnel and uphold cost-effective, standard-compliant solutions.
- Maintain full compliance with company Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) policies by enforcing safe and environmentally conscious work practices.
- Review third-party design work and actively participate in safety and technical audits including HAZOP, HAZID, IPF, and reliability assessments.
- Assess current pipeline and facility capacities to identify bottlenecks and optimize performance.
- Explore and recommend new technological applications for pipelines engineering.
- Mentor and develop local engineers for succession planning within the team.
- Understand environmental management standards (ISO 14001) relevant to project designs.
- Apply safety design methodologies throughout the project lifecycle (e.g., HAZID, HAZOP, HAZAN, IPF classification, QRA, fire and gas mapping).
- Conduct life cycle cost analyses for engineering solutions.
- Prepare technical documentation such as RFQs for pipeline project scopes.
- Develop and maintain engineering schedules, resource plans, and cost estimates, updating capacity plans biannually.
- Deliver high-quality engineering across various pipeline technologies, including risers, subsea pipelines and manifolds, landfalls, and onshore/subsea piping.
- Collaborate with construction engineers on installation strategies and construction engineering.
Candidate Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or a closely related discipline from an accredited institution.
- At least 10 years of significant experience in offshore/onshore oil and gas, petrochemical, or marine industries.
- Minimum five years in a senior pipeline engineering role on large international oil and gas or petrochemical projects, with at least three years in an engineering contractor environment.
- Comprehensive knowledge of standards and codes including ASME, API, ISO, DNV, and Shell DEP for pipeline design and construction.
- Preferred proficiency with pipeline design software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, MathCAD, CAESAR II, Abaqus, and ESRI/GIS.
- Solid skills in Microsoft Office tools including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
