We are seeking a seasoned payroll professional to join us as a Senior Payroll Officer, taking comprehensive responsibility for a high-volume payroll portfolio. Key Responsibilities
- Take full ownership of payroll processing for your designated portfolio, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Manage payroll activities for a large salaried employee base, including changes to employment status, leave, deductions, bonuses, and terminations.
- Perform payroll reconciliations, journal entries, and generate month-end reports.
- Ensure compliance with statutory payroll obligations such as payroll tax, superannuation, and Single Touch Payroll (STP) reporting.
- Act as a primary contact for payroll-related queries from employees and managers, delivering service with care and professionalism.
- Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies efficiently.
- Collaborate closely with HR and other business teams to keep employee and payroll data accurate and up to date.
- Contribute to continuous improvements in payroll systems, processes, and operational practices.
- Develop versatility by cross-skilling across different payroll portfolios to support continuity within the payroll team.
Candidate Profile
- Proven experience managing end-to-end payroll within medium to large organisations, handling significant volumes efficiently.
- In-depth knowledge of payroll laws, taxation, superannuation, and compliance requirements.
- Exceptional accuracy with meticulous attention to detail.
- Strong skills in payroll reconciliation, reporting, and troubleshooting.
- Effective workload organization and ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Proficient usage of payroll systems, employee data management, and reporting tools.
- Excellent communication with a service-oriented approach towards addressing payroll inquiries.
- A proactive attitude toward process improvement and operational excellence.
- A collaborative team player eager to cross-train and support colleagues.
