Role Overview

The Senior Microservices Engineer will be a pivotal contributor to designing, building, and maintaining scalable microservices-based systems within the CIO Technology Engineering team. Collaborating with the Principal Engineer, Group Architecture, and agile teams, you will develop reliable, reusable, and maintainable Java microservices that fulfill business and technical requirements. Your responsibilities will also include participating in code reviews, influencing design discussions, and continuously advancing engineering standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Java microservices with a focus on scalability and resilience.
• Engage actively in code reviews and technical design forums to uphold high-quality engineering practices.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers fostering knowledge exchange and skill development.
• Support adoption of engineering best practices and proactively address technical challenges to mitigate risks and minimize technical debt.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align solutions with company objectives.
• Assist in defining and monitoring team KPIs and aid strategic initiatives alongside the Principal Engineer.

Desired Experience and Skills

• Substantial experience in producing Java-based microservices within production environments at a senior engineer level.
• Proven track record working effectively in agile teams employing iterative delivery and collaborating with stakeholders.
• Demonstrated ability to influence architecture and engineering processes, contributing to organizational engineering vision and continuous improvement.
• Experience in providing technical leadership and mentoring to support capability growth.
