Senior Software Engineer

Overview

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer with over 7 years of relevant experience to join our team. This role offers a salary of 80000 GBP per annum and operates in a hybrid working model requiring three days per week onsite at our central London office.

Key Responsibilities

• Take ownership of designing, developing, and maintaining microservices primarily using Golang.
• Continuously refine design and implementation to address bugs, enhance performance, and introduce new features.
• Containerize services and prepare them for deployment on Kubernetes clusters using Helm charts.
• Guarantee the resilience and reliability of software services.
• Attain comprehensive understanding of the complete technical architecture and system dependencies, applying this knowledge to your code.
• Create extensive test coverage including unit, contract, end-to-end, and integration testing.
• Utilize Git for version control and engage in build, test, and deployment activities through CI/CD pipelines.
• Develop and validate software locally before promoting to lower environments.
• Review and improve code authored by team members, enhancing performance and readability while facilitating design and process decision discussions.
• Communicate progress and manage risks related to assigned applications and services.
• Conduct demonstrations and participate in acceptance meetings with analysts, developers, and product owners.
• Contribute to task planning and evaluations within sprint cycles.
• Estimate, own, and deliver assignments encompassing design, development, testing, deployment, configuration, and documentation to meet business goals.

• Expertise handling large-scale data and designing systems with high throughput and low latency.
• Familiarity and enthusiasm for modern service design approaches such as containers, container orchestration (Kubernetes), streaming data platforms, APIs, and in-memory/NoSQL databases.
• Comfortable operating within DevOps workflows, including continuous integration and deployment.
• Effective communication skills across diverse stakeholders including subject matter experts, data scientists, software engineers, and enterprise DevOps and security teams.
• Experience applying best practices for code reviews, version control, and change management suited for scaling software engineering environments.
• Ability to optimize solutions within limited technology stacks.
• Experience or interest in deploying machine learning models into production environments.
