Project Overview

This role involves contributing to one of Saudi Arabia's largest programmes—an extensive mixed-use development encompassing sports venues, entertainment, arts, and integrated infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the planning, design review, and technical assessment of District Cooling Plants (DCPs), Thermal Energy Storage (TES) systems, Energy Transfer Stations (ETS), and chilled water distribution networks.
• Analyze hydraulic modeling, plant sizing, load calculations, and develop strategies for optimizing energy use in District Cooling systems.
• Assure adherence to international codes and local regulations, supporting the formulation of technical standards, guidelines, and operational policies.
• Assess both centralized and decentralized cooling system options based on technical viability and cost-effectiveness.
• Coordinate interfaces among DCPs, chilled water networks, ETS, power, and other utilities.
• Participate in technical reviews, value engineering efforts, and stakeholder coordination related to District Cooling.
• Review master plans and technical specifications pertinent to District Cooling.
• Oversee and approve design deliverables through concept, schematic, detailed, and Issued for Construction (IFC) stages.
• Lead technical evaluations, design improvements, and value engineering initiatives for District Cooling.

Qualifications and Experience

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or HVAC Engineering.
• Between 12 to 15 years of relevant experience specifically in district cooling.
• Proficient knowledge of DCPs, TES systems, chilled water networks, hydraulic modeling, and energy efficiency.
• Experience working on large-scale mixed-use or urban infrastructure projects.
• Proven history with technical Requests for Proposals (RFPs), specifications, design reviews, and performance verification.
• Strong capabilities in managing stakeholders, producing technical reports, and delivering presentations.
