Role Overview

We are seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to help develop our flagship Retail Media product from inception. The role involves designing, implementing, and maintaining high-quality machine learning systems that enable personalized advertising experiences for consumers and provide tangible value to brands and retailers.

You will be part of an impactful product team collaborating closely with colleagues in Data & AI, product management, engineering, and business stakeholders. Your responsibilities will span the entire machine learning lifecycle—ranging from framing business problems and analyzing data to model creation, deployment, performance monitoring, and continuous enhancement.

This position is ideal for a professional who blends deep expertise in machine learning with strong software engineering skills and thrives in translating ambiguous product challenges into robust, scalable machine learning solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Data & AI teams as well as product managers, software engineers, and commercial partners.
• Design, implement, and maintain ML systems tailored to retail media scenarios such as sponsored product rankings, audience segmentation, campaign optimization, attribution, and performance analytics.
• Convert business and product specifications into scalable and efficient ML models emphasizing quality, latency, reliability, and maintainability.
• Create and optimize ML pipelines covering feature extraction, model training, validation, deployment, and ongoing monitoring.
• Deploy machine learning models using cloud infrastructure, ensuring their dependability, transparency, and maintainability over time.
• Effectively communicate technical decisions, assumptions, challenges, and uncertainties to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Support the development and exchange of ML engineering best practices and standards within the team.

Candidate Profile

• Extensive hands-on experience in machine learning engineering, ML-focused software engineering, or data science with strong engineering backgrounds.
• Proven track record of building and managing production-grade machine learning systems, including pipelines and model-driven products.
• Prior experience in retail media or alternatively in recommender systems or ranking algorithms.
• Proficiency in handling complex datasets and awareness of frequent machine learning pitfalls such as data leakage, feedback loops, distribution shifts, and deceptive offline evaluation metrics.
• Ability to work closely with business teams and clearly explain complex technical concepts to non-technical partners.
• Self-driven with a proactive attitude and comfortable operating amid the uncertainties of an early-stage product environment.
